June 18th

JESUS SENDS US OUT

Conversations:

Share your highs and lows, or respond to the following:

  1. Imagine that you are going on a walking trip to another town tomorrow. What will you take along with you?

  2. Now, imagine you had no phone and you could not book a hotel in advance. How would you feel?

Bible Readings:

1st reading Genesis 18:1 - 15 The three visitors

2nd reading Romans 5:1 - 8 Peace and hope Gospel reading Matthew 9:35 – 10:23 The sending of the twelve

Discuss: Jesus sent out his disciples to tell others about him. They were to take hardly anything with them on this special trip. Share about a time when you told someone else about Jesus.

Action Response: Jesus sent out his disciples to go from town to town. They had people who hosted them and looked after them while they were there. Most of us have homes we live in and can host family and friends. Consider donating your time, possessions, or money to a local homeless shelter for those people who do not have places to sleep at night.

Prayer: We give you thanks and praise. Lord, you are good and your faithful love continues forever. Amen.

Mealtime Prayer: Lord of the harvest, thank you for feeding us with the fruits of the earth. Make us ready to serve as workers in your harvest fields. Amen.

Blessing: May the Lord look over you with care.

Verse of the Week: JESUS SAID TO HIS DISCIPLES, “THE HARVEST IS GREAT, BUT THE WORKERS ARE FEW.

SO PRAY TO THE LORD WHO IS IN CHARGE OF THE HARVEST; ASK HIM TO SEND MORE WORKERS INTO HIS FIELDS.” MATTHEW 9:37-38

18th June When God Seems Far Away (Interview)

Depression challenges us, not only physically and emotionally, but also spiritually. Listen to Mark’s story, a pastor who has struggled with depression for about 20 years. How does someone with faith reconcile a God who often seems far away, especially when you feel so totally alone?
