TELP AGM Report:
Well, hello everyone.
A very special thank you to those of you who could get to church and the AGM last Sunday and celebrate the awesome blessings God has given us through our volunteers and move the reports into the history books! For those unable to attend, you have had the opportunity to read the reports and can also appreciate how God has used His servants. We endorsed the recommendations of the Working Party of a 12months trial of one public TELP worship service each week at St Andrew Church at 9.30am. In 12 months’ time, we will review this decision and move forward with those findings. The Lord has plans for us and He knows our needs and will Bless all our endeavours. This is only the public worship service and does not limit any other “church” assemblies at other places and at other times as we work with our members. The formats and times of these services are only limited by our imagination and the desire to organise them. We endorsed the starting time of this trial to be Sunday 25th June 2023. This timeline ...
Gives both congregations time to get ready for the change and put in place things that need to be changed.
Gives us time to advertise where the Top End church service is, so people don’t rock into Good Shepherd at 10.30am or into St Andrew at 8.30am.
Allows our website to have time to reflect this change and advertise.
Is a TELP Sunday
We agreed that as I am away for about a month, I would draw up a schedule of responsibilities for us, as both congregations until Sun 25th June and then as a TELP one until the end of July. I have sent that to all involved at this stage, so a huge thank you to those wonderful people willing to serve the Lord in this way.
We will need to discuss what happens with our TELP worship service. We have agreed on a TELP worship ser- vice held in the St Andrew church building. It is not a St Andrew congregation or a Good Shepherd congregation worship anymore, but a combined TELP one. Both practices and traditions we have had as separate congrega- tions may or may not need to change the way we currently do things. Neither are good or bad but just different. It is important to get the one service up and running as is, then decide the TELP worship service as we would like it to happen a little later. Many are small differences but if not handled with respect, may inhibit our service unity. Remember what we said about it in the proposal...
Public worship needs to be engaging; in tune with the contemporary needs of our culture while remaining faithful to our basic tenets; a welcoming space for the curious stranger; a place where our connection to our Triune God is enhanced by songs that lift our spirits and soothes and comforts our souls no matter what we are experiencing; offering pathways to leadership development and participation; well-coordinated; an exciting and uplifting place to want to go.
It behoves us to offer the best public worship experience we can, not only for our own people, but for others who may want to join us. Well, here is our chance!!
We also discussed our Call process and where to from here. If anyone is interested in being involved in this pro- cess and would like to be a part of the Call Working Group, please reply to Sheree and she will collate responses for the leadership TEAM.
Once again, we praise God for the wonderful blessings, he has given us and the many opportunities he has of- fered for our engagement. God Bless you all as we move forward in the Top End Lutheran Parish.
Helen Taylor, Chair

Discuss: When God gave the gift of the Holy Spirit to the first Christians on the day of Pentecost, a strong wind came from heaven and tongues of fire came to rest on them (Acts 2:1-21). How were the believers changed?
Action Response: 1 Corinthians 12:7 we learn that the Holy Spirit gives us gifts to use to help all people. Have a discussion about how members of your household are using their God-given gifts for the sake of others.
Prayer: Spirit of God, please work in us today. Please use our gifts to bless others. Amen.
Mealtime Prayer: Come, Spirit of God and be our guest, our table to grace and our food to bless. Amen.
