Sunday the 26th of February is the first Sunday of the 40 days of Lent. You will notice the church colours have changed to purple in accordance with this time. Our parishes are always delighted to see you and hear your resounding voices in prayer and song, and never more-so than during this sombre time of connection, reflection and praise.

What's Going On In Our Parish
Helen Taylor will be away:
Helen will be away from the 15th of March, exploring the Blue Mountains and will be away for about a month. If there are any queries, please contact Pastor Noel in a TELP week or Sheree in non-TELP weeks and she will further the query to an appropriate person. Karen will be the person in charge at Good Shepherd.
Lynne would like to personally invite you to come along to our series of four Bible Studies on the Holy Spirit. They will be held during Lent instead of holding weekly services this year. There are three options which are set out below and the same material will be covered in each study, so you can ‘mix and match’ if a certain day or time doesn’t suit you. Each study will be accompanied by a meal which is a great time to get to know others. Please bring along a dish to share and your own drinks. Feel free to contact the leaders by phone for more information. It would help with organisation if you phone or text your intention to come along but you are still welcome if you decide to come along on the day! Click the link above for more information.

GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD HE GAVE US JESUS
Conversations:
Share your highs and lows, or respond to the following:
1. What makes you feel loved? 2. How do you show love?
Bible Readings: 1st reading Genesis 12:1-4 The call of Abram 2nd reading Romans 4:1-5, 13-17 Abraham justified by faith
Gospel reading John 3:1-17 For God so loved the world
Discuss:
How is God’s love like human love? How is it different?
Action Response:
God called Abram to leave his home country and his relatives to live in a new land (Genesis 12:1). In our world today there are many people who are forced out of their home countries by war or other hardships. Visit the websites www.refugeesinternational.org or www.alws.org.au (Australian Lutheran World Service) to find out more about displaced people. Talk about their challenges and plan to make a donation to assist refugees.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for giving us your Son. Fill us with new life today to know and love Jesus and to share him with everyone we meet. Amen.
Mealtime Prayer:
Lord God, thank you for these gifts before us. As we are filled with food, fill us also with love for others. Amen
Blessing:
May God keep you safe in your coming and going.
Verse of the Week: FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONE AND ONLY SON, THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. JOHN 3:16
