7. There was a special baptism on Sunday. Cedric Stevens an adult student at Nungalinya College was baptised by Pastor Treva. The Holy Spirit is certainly working within our Top End community. Please pray for Cedric.
One story that illustrates the power of the gospel and the evangelistic zeal of the early aboriginal believers, is the story of one man who said to his family in effect, “come and see Jesus”. Kamatu (Cedric’s Great Grandfather) first heard the message of God’s forgiveness in Jesus Christ near his home country, Kintore. It was a long time ago, as early as 1930.
When Pastor WF Albrecht, blind evangelist Moses and others travelled out west from Hermannsburg, they could not anticipate what the reception of the gospel would be.
That Kamatu listened to the message was a miracle equal to that of Pentecost. Kamatu persuaded his family members to accompany him to Hemannsburg so they could hear it too.
Cedric has Kamatu printed on his T-shirt today. ‘This story was written by Norm Wurst in” Christ in the Centre.”
